Self-help groups are groups of independent volunteers set up by women with similar socio-economic backgrounds to solve common problems. The origins of SHG go back to 1975, when it was founded by Professor Mohammed Yunus, a Nobel laureate and a pioneer of the concept of microcredit and microfinance. SHG was established by government agencies to alleviate poverty. SHG is considered to be the implementer of the goals of empowering women and promoting the leadership of the poor and the poor. SHG members often save small amounts to create a company fund until they have enough money to lend to people in difficulty or people who are parting.
